Lena M. Aucter
Aug 10, 2018Aucter, 95, of Soft Maple Rd., Croghan, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville where she had been admitted.Born July 27, 1923 in Indian River in the Town of Croghan, a daughter of Francis P. and Margaret E. (Brown) Boliver, she was educated in Indian River country schools.She married Bernard H. Aucter on May 21, 1946 at the former St. Anthony’s Church in Indian River with the Rev. Eugene Chauflin, OFM, officiating. Mr. Aucter died March 21, 2003.Lena worked as a mother and homemaker to her large family much of her life, and was an avid knitter who enjoyed knitting all sorts of things for her children and grandchildren. She also took great pleasure in being actively involved and a member of the Soft Maple Roots Quilting Group.Lena was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan, was a Team Member of “The Memory Keepers” Relay for Life, and was a former member of the Beaver River Fish & Game Club.She is survived by three daughters, Ethel Hoch, of Belfort, Susan (Carl) Sauer, of Lowville and Patricia (Bruce) Flint, of Croghan; three sons, Eugene F. (Shirley) Aucter, Bernard H. (Cindy) Aucter, Jr. and Randy A. (Kathy) Aucter, all of Croghan; 21 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Yousey, of Croghan, and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her grandson, Joshua Aucter, her great granddaughter, Magdelena Sauer, four brothers, Lyle, Herbert, Earl, and Harold Boliver, two sisters, Edna Moore and Irene Widrick, and her son-in-law, Duane Hoch.Lena’s funeral services will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018, beginning with a 12:15 p.m. Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, followed by a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, with the Rev.
